Pet Pampering Puts Local Pet Resort on Prime Time

From pool privileges to spa services to romantic slumber parties on Valentine’s Day, pet pampering has become big business as Richmond-based Holiday Barn Pet Resorts can attest. Holiday Barn has attracted the attention of some of the nation’s top media outlets: The New York Times, NBC's Today Show and MSNBC's Your Business.

On September 24, 2006 The New York Times reported on the popular trend of pampering pets. The article described how Emerson Hughes, Holiday Barn founder and owner, has introduced many fun and luxurious amenities designed to make pet vacations just as fun as people vacations.

The producers of the Today Show saw the article and on Thursday, Oct. 19, filmed pets vacationing and visiting the spa at Holiday Barn. The segment is scheduled to run on Friday, October 27.

The producers of MSNBC's Your Business, which features small business news and advice, also saw the article. On Saturday, October 28, MSNBC will film Holiday Barn and interview Hughes for a show scheduled to air on Sunday, Dec. 10, 7:30 a.m. This program can be viewed at msnbc.com any time after the broadcast.

Holiday Barn is a full-service pet resort founded by Emerson Hughes in 1972. The company has two locations in Richmond on Mountain Road in the west end and Southlake Boulevard in the south side. Holiday Barn provides kennel services for cats and dogs, spa services, dog training, dog day camp (day services for pets) and special features such as luxury dog suites, cat condominiums and a swimming pool just for dogs.
